soon...

Hopefully we will be moving into our new rooms this week.  Today carpet is supposed to come and start to be installed!  I could hardly sleep...it is like Christmas!  Everything is pretty much done except for the fireplace mantel and one window needs a sill installed.  Special thanks to hubby and his dad, they worked so hard on making this house a home for our family!

coming together

This weekend was a busy one!  I painted the family room ceiling (ouch!) and hubby re-worked the kitchen layout.  We are busting our behinds trying to get everything ready for carpet which should be delivered for my birthday, next week!

In this pic you can see the doorways into the foyer (the one with the paint can and baby gate) and the family room (the doorway with the broom propped against it).  There is a tiny strip of wall between these two kitchen entryways that is pretty narrow.  I am thinking about getting a long grille that looks like a garden gate to mount there so it is more pleasing to the eye.  Baroness Wall Gate is one I am considering...

Hubby sawed off the island-ish counter.

Now I have access to the pantries when we are at the table!

Can't wait to get rid of this ugly kitchen!

Today after work I primed the family room...

fireplace...we got the Dimplex 39" electric fireplace with swing doors and trim - found an excellent and cheap dealer through ebay!

i got a little crazy with the paint...don't know how I managed to get it in my hair when I wasn't painting the ceiling tonight!  long day!

freakin' roller wouldn't come off...I gave up...will try again tomorrow!

Stay tuned...color will be added to the walls this week!

ode to daddy

 Dear Dad,

Thank you for kicking my butt when I was little - at times you felt like quite the slave-driver.  I did not enjoy washing your truck 3 times (fyi, that is how many times I had to wash it before I showed you to get your seal of approval) and I secretly hate the smell and oily-ness of armoral; I loathed shoveling snow from the quarter mile driveway; I got frostbite putting up Christmas lights and was afraid you were going to fall off the ladder; it was kinda gross helping with that deer; I got loopy painting the porch railings in the attic with mom; I know sawdust does not sweep itself up...and a bunch of other callous-y, achy, annoying and painful memories.

This past week, while priming my new rooms at ten o'clock at night -after working a full day and taking care of the my mommy duties- I realized you were preparing me for the real world (and while I do still hate that tv show I really enjoy life).  You gave me something pretty special by pushing me so much when I was a kid - drive and a hard working nature.  So here it is..................THANK YOU!
