Crazy busy

We have been crazy busy...which I do not like!

Toby had strep throat and Jay is in full force potty training refusing to wear pull ups at night.  There has been lots of laundry!

We also finished the playroom (still needs paint on the trim).  Just a reminder - in the playroom we added a closet, hung a new light and got new carpet since the berber was starting to unravel!  It was nice because everything was paid for except the carpet install since we are still trying to save for the pool liner and water which is due May 1st.

The dining room has been mudded and sanded.  Yesterday I wiped down the walls removing any little tiny wallpaper scraps that have been missed.  I am so tired of remodeling!  Our goal is to get paint on the walls this week.

Easter Recap

We had a great Easter!

My favorite Easter decoration was the egg garland I made out of stuff I had around the house!

On Saturday we went over our cousin's house for Easter fun!

Toby is a great egg-hunter, very focused gathering all the eggs he was allowed and then looking at his prize.
Jayden is the opposite.  He liked to find the egg, open it and then eat what is inside.  Only after his treat was finished did he want to look for another egg!

Triple trouble!

Easter Morning was very nice.
The Easter bunny brought a few small treats (gummies, goldfish and chocolate pudding) and a few toys including a Noah's Ark felt playset for Jay and a children's bible for Toby- which we have been reading every night, we are over 100 pages into it already!

Toby playing Paper Jams guitar and Jayden dancing!

Toby wrote "Toby Truck" all by himself!

Toby the focused egg hunter...

Jayden didn't have time for eggs when he was getting so much attention - but he did have time for chocolate!
And a little note on house progress - I hope to finish removing the wallpaper scraps around the door frame this weekend and begin sanding the dining room!  Last week around the Easter fun I was able to remove the little scraps from the edges of the base molding.  My goal is to get a coat or two of primer on this by the end of the month.

a fun easter-y day!

Last year was the first year we attended one of Mrs. J's Easter parties...what a blessing!  This year we were so excited to go again - lots of fun for the boys and mom and dad!  Unfortunately Jay got sick with a high fever (103 degrees) and couldn't attend.  Mrs. J packed everything up for the boys and we had an at home version - how sweet!

The morning started with dyeing eggs after breakfast.

can you spot Jay?
yes, that is him on the step in time out
he spent a lot of egg dyeing time here...boo!

Next we painted birdhouses...

Jay had to take a snack break!

Then it was time for play outside and lunch at GG's
aka Great Grandma's

Toby had a doctor's appointment in the afternoon for his last set of vaccines until he is 11!  The doctor was close to my grandmother so we stopped there for lunch and another treat.

After Jay's nap was an Easter egg hunt, thanks Mrs. J!

Toby was finished first and then he opened his eggs.  Jayden liked to open the eggs as soon as he found one.
Thanks for a great day, Mrs. J!

How does your garden grow?

In March the boys planted seeds in these "greenhouse" containers.  These little babies are growing!

Lettuce and Spinach are doing the best!

My labels for these guys were washed away...I am thinking the first one is a cherry-like tomato

There was also one greenhouse that did not sprout...boo!

On another note...here is my grocery budget for March.

March, week 1 - $65.13
March, week 2 -$131.67
March, week 3 - $86.49
March, week 4 - $71.80

average = $88.77

Maybe my original budget was too high.  MoneySaving Mom says a realistic goal is $20 per person per week so that makes $80/week - I am slightly higher than that...we'll try again next month!

I used my savings to supplement my work wardrobe - thanks to ebay and thrift store finds I will have a new spring in my step! I also found an awesome homemade recipe for shoe polish - one part lemon juice and two parts olive oil works like a charm.
